Maui Public Art Corps Hui Mo'olelo Project

A public art project that I created with Maui Public Art Corps (MPAC) via their Hui Mo'olelo program, a project where influential figures, elders and Hawaiian practitioners from Maui were gathered together and paired up to "Talk Story" about their experiences from living on island. I chose an excerpt by Anuhea Yagi and Hoaka Delos Reyes and translated their story into imagery using animation.

Animatic

An animatic is essentially an animated storyboard, and always comes before the finished product.

Concept Art & Keys

Working within a limited time frame the concept art also became my color keys for this animation. I used a very limited color palette to help speed up the process and give the mood and imagery more power.
